Parents & Ladies,
Due to winter break, we won't have our first practice until Monday, February 26th at Riverdale Golf Course at 4:00 PM.
Before you can practice, you must take care of all athletic registration information & fees.
We will practice Monday through Thursday immediately after school from 4 o’clock to 5:30 at Riverdale Golf Course. If we have inclement weather on Wednesdays, we will practice at Topgolf with 30 minutes swing sessions as we have done throughout the fall and winter.
No practice on Friday or Saturday and no contact on Sunday. You are always welcome to practice on your own those three days.
At practice, you need to be prepared for inclement weather. Always dress comfortably and have all of your equipment with you.
When we finish at 5:30, be sure your transportation arrives on time to pick you up if you are getting a ride.
Match Schedule & Information:
At Varsity League Matches, we have five girls compete. At invitationals and other non league matches, four girls will compete. Every girl on the team will
play either in varsity or junior varsity matches as long as you remain eligible academically and athletically.
Per district transportation guidelines, I will use a district vehicle to transport members of the golf team to any match that is outside the 10 mile radius from the school. If a scheduled match is within the 10 mile boundary such as the Broadlands Course, Thorncreek Golf Course & Riverdale Golf Course, players must provide their own transportation to the event.
Below is our current Varsity match schedule. Within our league matches, teams frequently bring a couple junior varsity players to compete against other junior varsity players. Horizon will almost always bring additional JV players to our league matches. Many schools will host junior varsity matches to provide more playing opportunities for all girls. Horizon has a very strong affiliation with Bella Rosa golf course in Frederick. We will play the 9 hole course 2 or 3 times during the season with other schools in or near District 12. We will also play the Par 3 south course at Hyland Hills and the Blue Course at Hyland Hills when opportunities arise. I would encourage all girls on our team to play the South Par 3 course on Friday, Saturday or Sunday with teammates or parents & grandparents.
For all matches, girls representing Horizon High School will be excused from school all day by me after I receive email confirmation from a parent that his/her daughter is permitted to play in the match & miss school.

Additional Notes to parents: Most, but not all golf courses permit spectators. I encourage parents & relatives to come out and follow the girls around the golf course and applaud them as they make solid shots. However, as a spectator, there are very specific rules set down by CHSAA. At no time, unless it is a medical emergency or other emergency is a parent permitted to talk with his/her daughter once the golfer is competing on the course. The parent or spectator may not assist the player carrying or providing any equipment, is absolutely forbidden to give advice either personally or through electronic means, or interfere with the pace of play on the course. All spectators must walk along a designated cart path when one is available, must never walk in the fairway or on the green, and must always stay away from all competitors during the round of golf. This is as much for your safety as their safety. Any spectator who violates these CHSAA rules places his/her daughter in danger of being disqualified from that particular match.
Some courses may rent carts to spectators if they have additional carts available. If a spectator is handicapped he/she must show their handicapped sticker or placard. Again if the course has additional golf carts, they may rent them out at their discretion.
